We All Have Problems.
We’ve managed challenges seeking advice, stories, and wisdom since our ancestors huddled around the heat of a campfire thousands of years ago. The times and technology have changed, but people are fundamentally the same. Each of us has our own struggle to both survive and thrive and talking to someone in therapy can help you do that.
As therapists, our job is to figure out how to do that. We believe in a highly personalized approach where the structure and content of therapy depend on the particular person and problems you are experiencing.
Our individual therapy services are available in person at our Presidio Heights SF office and via video call across California. We provide a wide range of strategies to address issues such as:
Gain clarity, confidence, and lasting change.
Know Yourself.
Sometimes, it’s hard to understand why other people–our friends, celebrities, whoever–struggles with a particular problem. Their challenges seem strange, unrelatable, or even trivial until we experience something similar.
The most important issues in our lives often have a very subjective, personal core that is difficult to explain to others. Therapy is a place completely focused on understanding you and your particular set of problems.
Get Out life's “First Draft”.
We don’t always get difficult conversations or moments in life right the first time. That’s why it’s helpful to have a place to stumble through it before going live. Therapy can work like a lab or staging area for your life where you can think through stuff, try out ways of explaining something, and experiment with the help of a trained professional who can provide some feedback and perspective.
Sometimes, people have the idea that all therapists do is listen. We can do that, but our job isn’t just to listen. Our job is to help you. If you need feedback and support, we’re here for that, too.
Share the Burden.
Listening is important to our jobs. Sometimes, just having a sympathetic ear is really helpful. That’s because saying stuff in our heads is different from hearing ourselves speak it out loud to someone else. It’s also because sometimes we keep distressing thoughts or emotions locked away, and letting them go is a huge relief. There is real power in sharing shame and pain with someone you trust.

Understand Why
Learn Tools
Practices, experiments, and insights are all part of the solution, though the mix of those is unique to each person. Some need breathing exercises; some just need to talk it out, and others still need to take risks.
Practice Changes
We often change through action and experience. Sometimes, the action is doing something you’ve been putting off; sometimes, it’s simply being aware of your thoughts and being a bit nicer to yourself. Either way, action breeds change.
Measure Progress
We’ll track progress both by checking in directly in session and through various psychometric measures.
